Blog Update: With Renewed Focus Comes A New Look

When I began this blog, I never expected it to be anything more than a practice run at writing in public. My plan was simple: Post up as much content as possible and use WordPress as a temporary online portfolio rather than a public blog. While it can still be said that I’m able to use it as originally intended, this blog has been noticed by an unexpected amount of you lovely readers and writers in a fairly short amount of time.

Fifty followers probably doesn’t seem like much to the more experienced professional bloggers but to me, that’s more people reading my blog than I ever imagined! Seriously, thank you to every single one of you who has chosen to let WordPress spam your emails with my content, it really means a lot!

In my earlier days as a blogger I wanted to cover as many topics as possible; From writing game reviews and covering events like the Play Expo, all the way to discussing more serious issues in politics and, of course, life in general. Over time however, my motivation for blogging has altered and become much more focused on a single subject which happens to be the biggest passion I have: The art of writing itself.

While I may occasionally still provide a personal opinion or two on various subjects, I think it’s safe to say that the primary focus of this blog has been evident for a while now. Between that and my childish giddiness at the follower count, I figured it was time to give the blog a new look that matches with the renewed sense of focus and passion for my writing that I’ve recently acquired.

I suppose that was a very long-winded way of saying “Thank you for following me and I hope you enjoy the new look!” but if you’ve been keeping up with me then you should know by now that everything I do is long-winded.

So I’ll wrap things up by saying thank you once again for sticking around and I hope you stay tuned for whatever turns up next! Speak soon folks!

I’ve Become A Blog Contributor!

Hello all, another piece of personal guff being thrown at you today but this time it’s different! I have some news to share! I’ve become a contributor for the Millionaire’s Digest!

Well, I’ve been accepted for maybe a week now but didn’t want to shout it from the rooftops until I was sure that the things I write would be suitable to the position. With two fairly well-received articles though I decided it was worth sharing. Feel free to check them out, they usually end up somewhere in the “Positive Thinking” section because I’m such a cheery fella!

I’ve been blogging for just over a fortnight and it’s been a lot more eventful than I anticipated at the beginning! I initially started this so I’d have a link for potential employers to see what I can do and I expected it to be left as just that. I was a complete stranger to the world of Blogging when I began so I expected my exposure to be kept to a minimum aside from the few people I’d link to this myself.

So I guess this is just a short post to give a big thanks to the Digest for giving me the opportunity to write to a larger audience and as always, an equally big thanks to you for being my audience! Whether you’ve found me by chance or you’ve come over from the Millionaire’s Digest, I appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to read whatever’s spouting from my head!

I’m going to be toning down a little on how often I post as I’d like to make sure I can give the best content possible while still working on my own private projects. I’ll do as much as I can to make the upload dates consistent and the content informative, interesting and sometimes a little silly.

But this is already going on longer than I planned so that’s enough from me today, speak real soon folks!

No Sunblock = Writer’s Block (+ A Little Satire)

So a few days ago there was mass panic in the dull wetlands of Scotland when water stopped pouring down on us from above and the fluffy grey clouds disappeared. In their place, a blue sky with some white clouds and a massive fireball the likes of which has never been seen before!

Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration but honestly, it hasn’t been this hot in my country for a very long time! As a result, you get two kinds of people when a heatwave like this turns up in bonny Scotland.

First you have the true proud Scots; people who find the sun unnatural and avoid it at any cost. How can such a thing be allowed in our fair land? We’re a hardy people who battle fierce winds and constant rain. In most countries it’s considered a good thing to catch chicken pox at a young age since it means you’ll never catch it again. In Scotland you get called a pansy if you’ve not survived pneumonia a few times.

The other kind of person that shows up is the excitable idiot. You can get used to not seeing much of the sun but when it appears in it’s full glory these people go crazy stupid. The clothes come off, the beers come out but there’s no sunscreen in sight. This week, I was one of those people and I’m suffering for it now.

That’s not to say I wasn’t partially justified! I was helping a friend moving flat and our van driver was running several hours late. We decided to move the couch outside early so we could make the most of the free time we had.

To sum things up, we were on that couch for three hours and sunburn has me feeling sick as a dog so I’m putting my more serious posts on hold until I begin to feel a little more focused. I’m eager to get an article on Story Timelines out there but I don’t want to post it until I’m certain that I’ve written it to the best of my ability.

In the meantime I still have plenty of things I can write about but it won’t be anything particularly serious until I’ve recovered a little. If you could see the varying shades of red on my face you wouldn’t take anything I say seriously anyway.
